J. Wallace Irvin, special counsel, is in Lewis Thomason’s Nashville office, where he focuses his practice on construction law with an emphasis on the representation of architects and engineers against professional liability allegations. Mr. Irvin also represents contractors in a wide variety of business matters, including contract negotiations, project administration, closeout, construction defect defense and payment disputes, including the assertion and enforcement of mechanics’ and materialmen’s liens and performance and payment bond claims. Additionally, Mr. Irvin advises contractors in administrative matters before the Tennessee Board for Licensing Contractors, Tennessee Occupational Health and Safety Administration (TOSHA) and Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT).
Mr. May, special counsel in the firm’s Memphis office, practices in the area of civil litigation, handling matters in state and federal courts throughout Tennessee. He has substantial experience defending claims involving workers’ compensation and insurance bad faith. In addition to his active litigation practice, Mr. May has counseled small business clients on matters including entity formation, employment law compliance and preparation of employer policies and procedures.
Marshall Stair, special counsel in the firm’s Knoxville office, concentrates his practice primarily in employment law, workers’ compensation defense, insurance casualty defense, and general commercial and tort litigation. Mr. Stair regularly defends employers against workers’ compensation claims. He has participated in numerous hearings with the Tennessee Department of Labor and has successfully mediated workers’ compensation and employment cases.
