Chris W. McCarty has been named a shareholder in the Lewis, King, Krieg & Waldrop, P.C., law firm.
McCarty, a Sevier County native and graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Law, began his career with the firm as a law clerk in 2004. He focuses his practice in the areas of employment law, education law and general civil litigation.
“We are pleased to name Chris a shareholder with the firm,” said Deborah Stevens, president/managing shareholder for Lewis King. “In addition to being a talented litigator with excellent legal skills, he is well regarded in our community for his strong commitment to community service.”
McCarty serves on the board of directors for the Cerebral Palsy Center, the board of Governors for the Knoxville Bar Association, and is president-elect of Nucleus Knoxville, a group of young community leaders actively engaged in networking to create a community that supports economic growth and quality of life for the region.
A former teacher at Seymour Middle School, McCarty has advised and represented various school boards, including Sevier County, Bristol City and Bradley County. That experience parallels McCarty’s representation of public and private entities before the Tennessee Human Rights Commission and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).
McCarty is a member of the Knoxville Bar Association, the Tennessee Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Society for Human Resource Management and the Tennessee School Boards Association.
The son of Powell and Cindy McCarty of Knoxville, Chris currently resides in Concord with his wife, Erin.
Lewis King was founded in 1960 and today has 58 attorneys in its three offices in Nashville, Knoxville and Sevierville.
